ROSSIGNOL

Rossignol needs no introduction. The tried and true Bandits have been replaced by the new Phantom series for men and the Voodoo for women. The Phantom 80 is a smooth cruiser that wears its Bandit heritage proudly. The big story for Rossi is the new Classic CX 80. This is a no frills vertical sidewall, metal laminate ski that makes high speed arcs all over the mountain, but has enough girth to kill it in soft snow too. The CX 80 was the overall favorite ski of our test. Put it on your demo list, this is a great ski. The Zenith 10 replaces Z9, a former Ski Magazine Ski of the Year. It’s a super shaped mid fat that loves to carve round turns all over the mountain. The new Voodoo 74 will make any Bandit W lover feel right at home. It is a playful, easy turning ski that is not afraid to leave the groomed runs. For a more carving oriented ride check out the Attraxion VI. It loves to be tipped up on edge and arc across the fall line. When the snow gets soft and deep, be sure to demo the Scratch Girl BC. She’s a nimble fat ski that loves to play in the powder.

Rossignol has a great looking line of boots for this season. Their good looks are matched with solid performance and improved fits.

The new Bandit B-Squad Carbon is a very high performance freeride boot. It has the lower shell of a race boot with a freeride flex upper cuff. It’s wide plug fit and stiff flex make it a demanding boot for strong skiers.

They have a medium to slightly wide fit, and a nice neutral stance. The B14 is a solid boot for exploring the whole mountain, while the softer B12 is better for lighter skiers.

The “white on white” Scratch boot is a pimped out version of the B14 with plenty of shock absorbing for landing big tricks.

The Intense series of boots are easy to put on and very roomy. They don’t have the performance of the Bandit line, but they get the job done. If you have big dogs, and don’t want to spend hours getting your boots worked on, try the Intense.

The Electra boots are for good female skiers. The E14 has just the right stiffness for ripping bumps and steeps, while the E12 trades a touch of performance for forgiveness. They both have a versatile fit that works for many.

The Xena X12 is a wide comfortable boot that has plenty of calf room. It is a solid boot for intermediate to advanced skiers who spend more time on groomed runs.
