Elan has a long history of great race skis (see Ingemar Stenmark) and innovation in shape (see Parabolic). We consider their line of aluminum topsheet freeride skis to be some of the best skis on the market. The 888 Alu has been a cult ski for a couple years. It’s a smooth and powerful ski that will plow through anything, but is forgiving enough for a strong intermediate. The 888 is our shop favorite in the all mountain category; Brian and Bryan both own a pair. For that same smooth well balanced feel in a quicker turning package, try the new 777 Alu. It is 77mm underfoot instead of 88mm, but uses the same aluminum top sheet/wood core construction. For the ladies, the Free Spice is great; a user friendly freeride ski that’s surprisingly agile. It is built around the 888 chassis, but has less metal.
